There is a lot of debate concerning vaccines. Parents are starting to question doctors about the safety of vaccines. Because of concerns about vaccine safety some parents are choosing not to vaccinate their children. Others choose to delay vaccines or follow an alternate schedule. Parents should make an informed decision about vaccines. However, some parents find it difficult to have a rational conversation with their child’s medical provider when they ask questions about vaccine safety.
When I consult with parents about vaccines we discuss several factors necessary for them to make an informed decision. They are encouraged to do their due diligence and ask questions. Questions that parents must be able to answer include: What is the possible risk of the illness? What is the possible health outcome if my child gets one of those illnesses? Parents must understand the risks versus benefits of vaccines.
Parents have asked about homeopathic vaccines. Homeopathy cannot be used as a replacement for vaccines. However, homeopathy can be used to prevent or treat potential side effects. The remedy that I most commonly recommend is thuja occidentalis which should be given twice daily for one week starting on the day of the vaccination. The dosage is 5 pellets sublingual.
